I could’ve gone with Brock Lesnar, Joey Chestnut, the Netherlands soccer team, or even the Los Angeles Clippers for getting a meeting with Lebron. Instead I went with the Dallas Mavericks for resigning the Big German Dirk Nowitzki. Way to go Mavs!

July 6th, 2010Come on LeBron – put your Mavericks jersey on
July 5th, 2010From Marc Stein at ESPN.com:
“Sources with knowledge of James’ thinking have maintained for months that the Mavericks — with Cuban’s aggressive and player-friendly ownership, Nowitzki’s presence as an ideal, floor-spreading complement to James’ slashing game and James’ close friend Jason Kidd leading Dallas’ recruiting efforts — can’t be dismissed as a dark-horse contender to land him.”

2009 Mavs – A Retrospective
May 5th, 2010This is how the Mavs’ 2009 season ends: “Not with a bang, but a whimper.” Specifically, an uninspired 97-87 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
Or better yet, as the Dallas Observer puts it, the Mavs “lift our hopes, only to break our hearts again.” » Read more: 2009 Mavs – A Retrospective

April 1st, 2010This video should ease any doubts you may have had about the Maverick’s trade of Caron Butler. Bring on the Playoffs!
Mavs beat Nuggets; reclaim mojo
March 30th, 2010Dallas hopefully put an end to a mixed stretch of games last night, beating the Nuggets 109 – 93. This win was especially key, as it gave the Mavs the playoff-seeding tiebreaker with the Nuggets (in the event both teams finish with the same record). I recommend Mike Fisher’s analysis at DallasBasketball.com.
The Mavs have guts – we can roll with this
March 24th, 2010The Mavs beat the Clippers last night. Ordinarily this wouldn’t be “news”, but last night’s win involved a 4th quarter comeback led by Jason Kidd, after Dirk was ejected following some “I really miss you guys” pushing and shoving with Drew Gooden.
The important part is the Mavs channeled their frustration at struggling to beat the Clippers, playing well late after a mediocre start: icing the game in the 4th quarter instead of letting it get close.
Mavs fans familiar with 4th quarter drama over the past few years should take heart: these Mavs have guts.
Go Mavs! Go Cats!
March 12th, 2010Brandford Doolittle threw it out there in an article today: is this the best Mavs team ever?
Sweet! As a Mavs fan, just having this conversation is awesome.
And if you’re a Northwestern Wildcats fan, you’re psyched that the ‘Cats made it to the 2nd day of the Big Ten tournament. NU Sports being what they are, this is to some extent sad this is remarkable, but it’s still worth adulation. Go Cats! And follow today’s game vs. Purdue here.
