Top 5 Pizza Places – DFW

March 2nd, 2010

It was suggested to me that I post the Top 5 Pizza Places in Dallas.  This list is specific to restaurants in the DFW area that are not national chain restaurants.  By the way, I could use more suggestions for top 5 lists or food places to try.

5.  Pizza by Marco – The crust is thin and crispy.  The toppings are fresh and piled on.  All in all a very solid pizza.

4.  Sal’s – The pizza is classic New York style, but it’s the stromboli that bumps this restaurant into the top 5.

3.  Andrea’s Pizza – They make a standard New York style pizza, but it wouldn’t make a top 5 lists.  However, get the thick crust and somehow the pizza is three times better.

2.  Grimaldi’s Pizzeria – If you haven’t tried this then you should take a trip to uptown and try a slice of heaven.  Maybe it has to do with the coal brick oven they use.

1.  Chicago Street Pizza – The BEST Chicago style pizza in town.  If you’re not sure what Chicago style pizza is then let me describe it the best way I can.  Thick thick crust topped with layers of cheese and toppings, then covered with pizza sauce.  It’s amazing!

Top 5 Action Movies

February 3rd, 2010

I was informed the other day that we need to do more top 5 lists.  I was trying to figure out what top 5 list I should do and then I was inspired by the Oscar Nominations.  So here is my top 5 list for Action Movies.

#5:  Terminator 2 – James Cameron’s best movie to date.  Forget Titanic and Avatar it’s all about terminators fighting.

#4:  The Matrix – I would be a top 3 movie if it wasn’t for The Matrix Re-Loaded.  Plus watch it again and now it’s not quite as good.

#3:  Reservoir Dogs – Classic Tarantino!  Tim Roth, Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, and Steve Buscemi?  Hell Yeah!  Go back and watch the dancing ear scene.

#2:  Fight Club – Two great actors (Brad Pitt, Edward Norton) at the top of their game and a great plot twist equal a fantastic movie.  Plus, the movie gave us a character nicknamed bitch tits.

#1:  The Dark Knight – Heath Ledger gives the best villain performance ever.  Christian Bale does alright, but gets completely shadowed by Heath and the incredible actions sequences.

Suggestions or arguments anyone?

Top 5 episodes of . . . Laser Cats!

January 18th, 2010

Kyle posted something, so of course I need to bump him out of the top spot.  As a consolation, I’ll attempt to truncate this post, so it’s still possible to see Kyle’s clip of the day headline (i.e., you need to click “Read more” to see this entire post).

More importantly, the Fifth episode of Laser Cats came out last weekend, so of course, now it’s time to rank all five.   All told they’re awesome, and I recommend watching them all now:

[Note, this is where you click "Read more" to keep reading.  So click "Read more", and keep reading.  Also: SPOILER ALERT]

Top 5 Mexican Restaurants

January 15th, 2010

This one will probably start some controversy, but what the hell.  Mexican food oh Mexican food how I love thee.  Your chips, your salsa, and your spicy meals entice me.  Would I like tortillas with that?  Uh yes I would.  Alright, enough rambling lets get to the list.  If you don’t agree with the list then leave a comment and maybe I’ll read it.  Wow, they came across pretty bitchy.  Oh well.

#5:  La Hacienda Ranch – Apparently their steaks are good.

#4:  Mattitos – Solid food at a solid price.  They have a great happy hour.

#3:  Tin Star – I realize some people love Chipotle, but Tin Star has tons of more options.  Plus, they do a taco of the day.

#2:  Cantina Laredo – Get the Fajita Nachos for dinner and then the flaming apple pie for dessert.

#1:  Mi Cocina – There’s really no debate in my mind.  Get the Fajitas and add mushrooms, you won’t be disappointed.

Top 5 Animated Shows

January 14th, 2010

Posting all these animated clips have inspired me to come up with the top 5 current animated show.  The only requirements to make this list is that the shows have to be animated or claymation and still putting out new episodes.

#5:  The Simpsons (FOX) – They’re still funny and sometimes relevant.

#4:  Robot Chicken (Cartoon Network) – Hilarious and disturbing apparently make a good mix.

#3:  South Park (Comedy Central) – Topical humor with kids saying bad words.  What more do you want?

#2:  The Venture Bros. (Cartoon Network) - Ridiculously funny parody show of the cartoons I grew up on.

#1:  Family Guy (FOX) – Do you really need a description?  ROADHOUSE!
